Today, Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson, chair of the Education and Labor Committee's Higher Education and Workforce Investment Subcommittee, held the third in a series of hearings on reauthorizing the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) to examine successful models of employment for justice-involved individuals.
Today, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson applauded House passage of the "Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation in America (INVEST in America) Act," which includes funding for 11 projects in Florida's 24th congressional district. Rep. Wilson fought to ensure the projects were included in the INVEST in America Act, which makes transformational investments in America's highways, roads, bridges, transit, rail, and water infrastructure to create jobs, modernize our infrastructure and reduce carbon pollution.
The Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation (INVEST) in America Act passed by the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee includes the Transportation Equity Act introduced by Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson to re-establish the Advisory Committee on Transportation Equity within the Department of Transportation. This committee would be comprised of community, academic, and government stakeholders to advise the Transportation secretary on policies to promote equity through community engagement and interagency collaboration.
