Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (FL-24), Miami-Dade Superintendent Dr. José Dotres, and the staff of Dr. Frederica S. Wilson / Skyway Elementary celebrated the groundbreaking to transform the school into the first Net Zero Energy school in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The project will replace old facilities with new, state-of-the-art, sustainable buildings and comprehensive renovations designed to meet Net Zero standards, along with the construction of new facilities such as a tennis court, science lab, and more.

October 1, 2025

Miami, Fla.— Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (FL-24) hosted a job fair with Miami Dade College and CareerSource South Florida at Miami-Dade North Campus. This job fair included over 50 employers, including representation from the private sector and local, state, and federal government agencies. 

 

Approximately 2,000 people were in attendance throughout the entire job fair. Many employers were reviewing resumes and conducting interviews on the spot.

Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (FL-24), joined by Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04) and Congressman Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, led 77 colleagues on a letter demanding the Department of Education and the Department of Justice to protect English Learners. The agencies recently rescinded 2015 federal guidance that clarified states’ obligations to English Learner students.
