Miami, Fla. – Today, Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (FL-24) issued the following statement on the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling to protect access to the abortion pill Mifepristone.

"Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court made the right decision in preserving women's access to the abortion medication Mifepristone.

"For the last 20 years, Mifepristone has proved safe and effective, and no amount of politically motivated attacks from extremist judges can change 20 years of scientific data.

Miami, Fla. – Today, Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (FL-24) presented a $6.4 million check to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade Inc. at the grand opening of the Dr. Frederica S. Wilson Club at Skyway Elementary School. The check includes funds for enhancements to the new club facility, the expasion of existing club programming for the NFL Club located in Gwen Cherry Park, and facility improvements to the Northwest Club.

Today, Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (FL-24) was joined by the City of West Park Mayor, Felicia Brunson, city officials, staff, and community members to present a $3 million check to the City of West Park for the construction of a cultural facility at McTyre Park. The funding awarded for the project are a part of the Community Project Funding earmarks in the FY 23 appropriations omnibus package passed during the 117th Congress.

Washington D.C. – Yesterday, Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (FL-24), Ranking Member of the Higher Education and Workforce Investment Subcommittee, and Congressman Jamaal Bowman (NY-16) introduced the American Teacher Act in the House with more than 50 cosponsors. The bill seeks to address the teacher shortage crisis by providing teacher salary incentive grants that support state efforts to increase teacher salaries to a minimum of $60,000 per year.
