Today, Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (FL-24) introduced the Vaccinate All Children Act of 2015. This bill will require students attending public schools to receive vaccinations, with a medical exception for students who cannot be vaccinated. Congresswoman Wilson released the following statement:

"This week, the World Health Organization celebrated World Immunization Week, recognizing the importance of vaccines. Research has shown that vaccinations are effective, keep people healthy, and save lives. As a former educator, I understand the importance of childhood vaccinations.

Wilson (FL-24) introduced a resolution honoring the life of Trayvon Martin, urging the repeal of Stand Your Ground laws, and calling on the United States government to address the racial profiling crisis. Congresswoman Wilson released the following statement:

"Today, Trayvon Martin would have celebrated his 20th birthday.

"On February 26, 2012, Trayvon Martin, an African-American youth, was horrifically shot and killed while walking home in Sanford, Florida, because he was viewed as a threat.

"On this 5th anniversary of the catastrophic earthquake that crippled Haiti, we remember the fallen and pray for those still without homes. Miami, FL - Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (FL-24) will celebrate National Teacher Day on May 5, 2015, by making a special presentation to the teachers of Brownville Middle School in Miami. The presentations will coincide with festivities planned by the school to honor the teachers. Each year Congresswoman Wilson issues a certificate for each of the more than 4,500 teachers who work at public schools in her district.

Miami, FL - Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (FL-24) announced today that the City of Opa-Locka will receive revitalization grants totaling $400,000 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Opa-Locka is one of nine communities in Florida to receive a portion of more than $3.9 million in Brownfield grants. This investment will provide communities with funding necessary to assess, clean, and redevelop contaminated sites, which will boost local economies and leverage jobs while protecting public health and the environment.
