Miami, FL- Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (FL-24) issued the following statement today as police investigate the discovery of two Molotov cocktails found Wednesday night near a shattered window at Missouri Congressman Emanuel Cleaver's district office in Kansas City.

The incident comes in the wake of protests and the federal investigation into the death of 18 year-old Michael Brown, a black teenager, who was shot and killed by a white, Ferguson, Missouri, police officer.

Congresswoman Wilson (FL-24) issued the following statement regarding the murder of international journalist and Pinecrest, Florida native, Steven Sotloff. Sotloff was captured by the terrorist group ISIL on August 4, 2013. Sotloff had been working as a freelance journalist and had covered the Arab Spring for almost two years just before his capture.

"Just last night, I spoke at the Jewish Federation of Broward County Solidarity Rally in support of the 'Bring Back Our Boys' campaign, started to bring awareness to the kidnapping of the three boys.

Wilson's (FL-24) House Resolution 617, condemning the abduction of hundreds of Nigerian girls by the terrorist group Boko Haram, was passed by the United States House of Representatives. Bipartisan support for the Congresswoman's resolution comes in the wake of reports of more kidnappings of young women last week in Nigeria. "This decision is yet another attack on Americans' ability to make their own health decisions and strips an element of women's comprehensive healthcare.

"Health care decisions are deeply personal. Employers should not have the right to limit the health choices of their employees, male or female."

Wilson (FL-24) will host a Green Impact Zone initiative workshop to help South Florida cities in district 24 access federal funds to revitalize their urban cores. The workshop will be held Thursday, September 4, 2014, at the Double Tree Grand Hotel in Miami. Elected officials and representatives of district 24's municipalities are invited to attend.
