She was one of several experts invited to speak at a hearing on "Haiti on the Brink: Assessing U.S. Policy Toward a Country in Crisis."

Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson issued the following statement after the House voted to impeach President Donald J. Trump:

"President Trump had to be impeached. He does not deserve to occupy the highest office in this land. He is a disgrace to our Founding Fathers, our constituents and our children.

"The elephant (pun intended) in the room is Russia.

"My regret is that we do not yet know what Russia and Putin have on Trump to cause him to serve as a puppet for the communist nation. I eagerly await the answer to that question.

Wilson responded to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals' ruling against the Affordable Care Act's individual mandate and asking of the district court, which had previously struck down the entirety of the ACA, to determine next steps. Rep. Wilson highlighted the devastating impact that this ruling could have on the 130 million Americans with pre-existing conditions, including 7,810,300 Floridians.

When Alexandria Jones, 15, received an email announcing that she was the District 24 winner of this year's Congressional Art Competition, she couldn't believe her eyes. In fact, she didn't even know she was a contender, because her art teacher, Mack Jackson IV, had submitted her entry without her knowledge.

"I was shocked and thought it must be a joke, but then I went to school and Mr. Jackson was, like, Congratulations," Alexandria, a sophomore at Miami Northwestern Senior High, explained. "I felt very emotional because I didn't know I was capable of something like this."

Today, Congresswoman Wilson voted to pass H.R. 986, the Protecting Americans with Pre-Existing Conditions Act, to block the Trump administration's dangerous October 2018 guidance that gives states the ability to weaken the Affordable Care Act's critical protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions.

On Friday, May 3, Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson reintroduced the Vaccinate All Children Act to promote the immunization of public school children and prevent public health crises. The legislation would disallow states from offering non-medical exemptions for meeting school vaccine requirements. Children for whom immunization is medically safe would be required to be vaccinated in accordance with the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.
