Miami, FL -Today, Rep. Wilson sent a letter to Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue urging him to approve the state of Florida's request to administer the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

D-SNAP allows people who are not typically eligible for SNAP benefits but have been impacted by a disaster to receive aid. In addition, current SNAP recipients could request supplemental benefits to raise their allotment to the maximum amount for their household size.

Miami, FL - Today, Congresswoman Wilson sent a letter to House leadership and the chairs and ranking members of the Appropriations and Transportation and Infrastructure committees urging them to include relief for Florida's public seaports in the third phase of the coronavirus response package.

Florida seaports are a major engine of economic activity for the state and the largest hub of cruise activity in the United States. It supports more than 150,000 jobs and generates nearly $8 billion in wages and salaries.

The comprehensive, bipartisan package includes Congresswoman Frederica Wilson's No Cost for COVID-19 Testing Act, which codifies the promises made by insurers to cover COVID-19 at no cost to patients and fills potential gaps in coverage for people in self-insured plans.

As chair of the bipartisan Florida Ports Caucus and a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson applauded the U.S. Department of Transportation's decision to award a $43.9 million to PortMiami. The grant will support the construction of a fumigation and cold chain processing facility, as well as other infrastructure projects including pavement repairs, stormwater and drainage upgrades, and enhancements to support refrigerated containers.
