Miami, FL - Today, Congresswoman Wilson sent a letter to House leadership and the chairs and ranking members of the Appropriations and Transportation and Infrastructure committees urging them to include relief for Florida's public seaports in the third phase of the coronavirus response package.

Florida seaports are a major engine of economic activity for the state and the largest hub of cruise activity in the United States. It supports more than 150,000 jobs and generates nearly $8 billion in wages and salaries.

"On January 12, 2010, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti at its very core, crippling the capital's infrastructure, killing hundreds of thousands of people, and leaving more than one million homeless. As we mark the ten-year anniversary of that devastating event, we also must not forget the myriad other man-made and natural disasters that Haiti has endured since then, including a cholera outbreak, hurricanes, and political unrest.

Miami, FL -Today, Rep. Wilson sent a letter to Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue urging him to approve the state of Florida's request to administer the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

D-SNAP allows people who are not typically eligible for SNAP benefits but have been impacted by a disaster to receive aid. In addition, current SNAP recipients could request supplemental benefits to raise their allotment to the maximum amount for their household size.

Wilson issued the following statement in response to the extension of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) programs for immigrants from El Salvador, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Sudan until January 2020. The extension was made to comply with a court injunction issued last October by the U.S. Circuit Court for the Northern District of California after the Trump administration sought to end the programs.

"My regret is that we do not yet know what Russia and Putin have on Trump to cause him to serve as a puppet for the communist nation. I eagerly await the answer to that question.
