Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson, joined by Representatives Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Florida), John Conyers (D-Michigan), Maxine Waters (D-California), Barbara Lee (D-California), and Yvette Clark (D-New York), on Wednesday, November 16, served as honorary co-hosts of a briefing on USAID-led efforts to help Haiti recover from the extensive damage wrought by Hurricane Matthew.
Today marks the third anniversary of the Dominican Constitutional Court's decision to strip the hundreds of thousands of Dominicans of foreign descent of their citizenship, the majority of whom are of Haitian descent. They are also being denied the legal rights and protections to which they were previously entitled. The court's decision has created a devastating human rights crisis and an unprecedented level of statelessness. It is particularly devastating for children who can no longer attend school or seek medical care.

the U.N.'s Apology for Haiti's 2010 Cholera Epidemic
Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson issued the following statement on Haiti's upcoming presidential and legislative elections:
"I applaud Haiti's citizens for finding the strength to set their struggles aside and wish them the best as they pursue the Herculean task of conducting an election in the aftermath of the hurricane. The sooner a new government is in place, the quicker Haiti will be able to recover from the various natural disasters it has faced and begin to grow and thrive."

Wilson on a letter to President Obama urging his administration to reconsider a decision to deport undocumented Haitians back to their troubled nation.

(Miami, Florida) - A bipartisan congressional delegation comprised of Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (D-FL) and Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) will travel to Haiti on Saturday, October 29, 2016, and return to Miami on Sunday, October 30, 2016, on a commercial flight. The purpose of the trip is to examine hurricane relief efforts after Hurricane Matthew. The two lawmakers are scheduled to receive briefings by the U.S.
