Congresswoman Wilson's Statement on One-Year Anniversary of Tucson, Arizona Shooting

U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) today issued the following statement on the one-year anniversary of the Tucson, Arizona shooting:

"One year ago today in Tucson, Arizona, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot and severely wounded by Jared Loughner during a 'Congress on Your Corner' event. Six people were killed at the event, including federal Judge John Roll, Giffords's aide Gabriel Zimmerman and 9-year-old Christina Taylor Green, who was born on September 11, 2001.

"This senseless tragedy reminded us about the absolute need to maintain civility in politics, the importance of keeping guns off of our streets and that we must do more on the issue of mental health awareness. As Congresswoman Giffords continues her recovery, my prayers are with her, her family and the Tucson community on this anniversary of that tragic event."
