Congresswoman Frederica Wilson’s Statement on the Partisan Republican Spending Bill
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Frederica Wilson issued a statement on the partisan Republican Spending bill, to which she voted ‘no’ on:
“Miami-Dade County is ground zero for this nation’s healthcare crisis, and this bill fails to do a damn thing to address this crisis. Hundreds of thousands of people in South Florida will lose healthcare coverage, many of whom will die. And I will not rubber-stamp the suffering that is bound to come.
“The fight does not stop here though. I will continue to fight to extend the healthcare tax credits and save healthcare. And while this shutdown showed how hard Republicans fought to starve Americans and strip them of healthcare, Democrats will press on.
“That is why House Democrats are introducing a discharge petition to force a vote on the House floor to extend the healthcare tax credits by three years. Every Democrat and Republican should sign the discharge petition to extend the healthcare tax credits because if we fail to act, we will have blood on our hands. My fight to protect healthcare will not stop until we cancel the cuts, lower the costs, and save healthcare.”
