Today Congresswoman Wilson issued the following statement after learning of the passing of Shimon Peres:

"I am deeply saddened by the passing of former Israeli president and prime minister Shimon Peres, the last founding father of the State of Israel. Shimon Peres was a visionary man, and an unwavering advocate for justice. Throughout his life, he worked tirelessly and courageously to serve the world. I had the honor of meeting him in Israel and I was instantly struck by his vision and commitment to peace. I hope that his legacy and many years of service will motivate us all to work toward a better future together. May his memory be a blessing to his family, the people of Israel, and the entire world."
