Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson released this statement on the Supreme Court’s split decision on President Obama’s executive orders on immigration: “I am very disappointed in the Supreme Court’s deadlock decision today, which will allow states to continue to ignore President Obama’s executive orders on immigration. This decision fails to add clarity to immigration laws and leaves millions of families in limbo. “As a result, hardworking, law-abiding immigrant families will be denied access to the American dream they’ve taken so many risks to achieve, and face deportation due to our broken immigration system. This decision underscores the need to expeditiously fill the vacant seat on our nation’s highest court. Our country faces many great challenges and we need a fully functioning Supreme Court to make tough decisions and interpret the laws that will move our country forward. In the meantime, I will continue to fight for comprehensive immigration reform.” |
