Today, Representative Frederica Wilson (FL-17) demanded that her colleagues in Congress come up with a sensible solution by midnight to address expiring tax cuts and automatic spending cuts to federal programs that does not hurt American families and senior citizens.

“Our country is facing a financial crisis, and so are millions of Americans,” said Rep. Wilson. “In any deal, we must protect our already struggling students, seniors, middle class, working poor and unemployed.”

Rep. Wilson went on to say that “It is totally unacceptable that my constituents and the American people are being held hostage by narrow-minded, self-serving political interests.”

“It is unconscionable that some of my colleagues in Congress refuse to raise taxes, even for people whose income is over $1 million, but will reduce vital benefits like Social Security and Medicare. These benefits help all American families, regardless of political party and economic status,” said Rep. Wilson.

Rep. Wilson is available for comment.
