Congresswoman Wilson Connects Homeowners with Federal Foreclosure Assistance Programs

MIAMI, FL – Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) will hold a foreclosure prevention workshop on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, from1:00pm to 8:00pm at The Fountain of New Life Church, 4601 NW 167th Street, Miami Gardens, Florida 33055, where Reverend Wayne Lomax is the pastor. The foreclosure prevention workshop will educate homeowners, facing foreclosure, about the many local, state and federal programs designed to help homeowners hang on to their homes. Many of these programs have expiration dates and Congresswoman Wilson wants to make sure that South Floridians take full advantage of them, whether you are unemployed, underemployed or a Veteran facing foreclosure.

“No one should go to bed at night, not knowing whether they will have a roof over the heads the next day. I want to make sure, South Florida homeowners, facing foreclosure, get the best help available to stay in their homes,” says Congresswoman Wilson.

A representative from the Department of Treasury’s Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and others will explain the various programs available to help homeowners facing foreclosure. Housing and Urban Development (HUD), approved counselors will also be available to work with homeowners and their lenders to try and create a plan to keep homeowners in their homes, whether it’s modifying their mortgage payments or possibly reducing the principle payment. These counselors are fully abreast of the various federal programs put in place by the Obama Administration. Lenders like Chase, Bank of America, GMAC, OCWEN, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Wells Fargo, and many more will be participating.
