For Immediate Release: 7/21/2011 Contact: Mahen Gunaratna, (202) 225-4506 As Atlantis Returns to Earth, Wilson Congratulates Crew and Mission Representative Frederica Wilson (FL-17) today issued the following statement congratulating the crew of STS-135 on the safe return of Space Shuttle Atlantis to Earth this morning: “Today, I congratulate the Atlantis spaceflight team and the hardworking men and women of NASA for a job well done. For decades, our space shuttle program has made our nation proud. I’m pleased we’re closing this chapter of our space history with a successful mission led by a strong and able crew. “Florida always has been, and will continue to be, home to NASA and our space community. As we welcome the Atlantis crew home, we look forward to space exploration continuing to play a major role in our economy and our lives.” Rep. Frederica S. Wilson is a first-term congresswoman representing the 17th District of Florida, including Northern Miami-Dade and Southeast Broward Counties. She is a former state legislator and school principal and the founder of the 5000 Role Models for Excellence Project, a mentoring program for young males at risk of dropping out of school. |
