Federica Wilson (FL-17), a member of the Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, today issued the following statement congratulating the crew of the Space Shuttle Endeavour on their safe return: “I applaud the Endeavour crew on their final flight and safe return home. Their trip to the International Space Station is a testament to the continued strength of our space program. Although this may have been Endeavour’s final mission, I look forward to the hardworking men and women of Kennedy Space Center continuing to push the boundaries of human knowledge and exploration in space.” Endeavour landed at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center earlier today after traveling over 6.5 million miles and orbiting Earth nearly 250 times. The STS-134 mission lasted 299 days in space over a distance of over 122 million miles. Rep. Frederica S. Wilson is a first-term congresswoman representing the 17th District of Florida, including Northern Miami-Dade and Southeast Broward Counties. She is a former state legislator and school principal and the founder of the 5000 Role Models for Excellence Project, a mentoring program for young males at risk of dropping out of school. |
