Frederica Wilson today issued the following statement in recognition of Earth Day 2011: “Today, Earth Day, is an opportunity to rededicate ourselves to protecting our natural world. This day and every day, we have a solemn responsibility to be good stewards of our environment, including our waters, lands, and wildlife. “Let us also recommit ourselves to investing in clean energy to create jobs and reduce carbon emissions. We have a duty to continue the fight against global warming to ensure that future generations will inherit the natural world that we know and love.” Rep. Frederica S. Wilson is a first-term congresswoman representing the 17th District of Florida, including Northern Miami-Dade and Southeast Broward Counties. She is a former state legislator and school principal and the founder of the 5000 Role Models for Excellence Project, a mentoring program for young males at risk of dropping out of school. |
