Miami, FL -- Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson issued the following statement on the American Jobs Plan:

"Since my first day in Congress, my mantra has been ‘Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!' and the infrastructure plan that President Biden outlined this week aims to achieve that goal. President Biden's American Jobs Plan is a robust and transformative investment in our nation and American workers that will create millions of good-paying union jobs, rebuild the country's crumbling infrastructure, and significantly increase U.S. economic competitiveness.

"The American Jobs Plan will greatly benefit District 24, which is literally buckling under a backlog of distressed roads and bridges, flooding and sea-level rise. It also will provide much-needed support for Florida's ports and waterways, including PortMiami, which is our community's most important economic engine and job creator, and address quality-of-life issues like traffic, which last year earned Miami the dubious honor of being named one of the most congested U.S. cities.

"Because infrastructure is about much more than roads and bridges, the American Jobs Plan also invests in families by ensuring that all American households will have access to affordable and reliable broadband services, which is particularly important to my district where students have struggled to participate in virtual learning because of unreliable internet service. In addition, it will tackle long-neglected areas of need and services, such as long-term care for seniors; upgrade public school and community college buildings, veterans hospitals and child-care facilities; and invest billions in workforce development, which will prepare millions of Americans, including underserved and neglected segments of our nation, for the jobs of the future.

"I applaud President Biden's visionary approach to not only Build Back Better but also do it in the most equitable way possible."
