Miami, FL – Today, Congresswoman Wilson and Miami-Dade NAACP president Ruban Roberts issued the following statement about reports of false information circulating on social media warning of planned racially motivated attacks. "We are deeply alarmed by reports of disinformation being spread on social media warning of planned racially motivated violence to take place this weekend. This information is reportedly being falsely presented as an official statement by the NAACP. "We urge everyone in District 24 and anyone who has received these messages to remain calm and vigilant. In the wake of the still-undecided presidential election, there may be more disinformation on social media and other platforms. Please do not react in a way that may put you in harm's way and always verify questionable information and ensure that it is coming from a reputable source." For information about the reported false messages circulating on social media, please contact Miami-Dade NAACP president Ruban Roberts by email at miamidadecommunications@gmail.com or call 1-877-NAACP-09. |
