Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson Named Chair of the Education and Labor Committee’s Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions Subcommittee

Today, Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson was elected to serve as chair of the Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Subcommittee of the House Committee on Education and Labor for the 116th Congress. The HELP Subcommittee has legislative and oversight jurisdiction over laws directly impacting American workers and businesses.

"I am pleased to assume this important role on the Education and Labor Committee. As chair of the HELP Subcommittee, I will conduct responsible oversight that holds the Trump administration accountable for ensuring that the nation's labor laws that protect workers' rights to form unions and collectively bargain are fairly administered by the National Labor Relations Board. Where needed, I will pursue legislative reforms to ensure these rights are fully protected so that we can restore fairness to our economy," said Congresswoman Wilson. "I also plan to ensure that employer-provided health plans adhere to the benefits included in the Affordable Care Act and do not shortchange workers. I will work closely with Chairman Scott to address the urgent multiemployer pensions crisis that is impacting workers, retirees, and businesses across the country. There's a lot of work to do. I am looking forward to a Congress that will first and foremost prioritize the interests of hard-working Americans and their families."
