Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson’s Statement on Midterm Election Results

Congresswoman Wilson issued the following statement in response to the midterm election results:

"It would be disingenuous to say that I am not disappointed by some of the election night results, but I also believe there is so much to celebrate, including the record number of women and veterans elected to serve in both chambers of Congress.

"Regaining control of the House is as much of a victory for the American public as it is for the Democratic Party. It is imperative, however, that we take seriously the clear message that voters sent us last night. They want congressional lawmakers to work for them and not against each other. I am hopeful that Democrats and Republicans can find common ground on key issues, such as repairing our nation's fragile infrastructure and access to quality education, health care and good jobs, and look forward to working with new and old members from both sides of the aisle. That is the best way to honor the faith that voters have placed in us.

"Democrats will control the House for the very first time since my election to Congress. I am extremely excited about all of the opportunities that being in the majority will bring, which will enable me to deliver even more for District 24 and the nation."
