Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson’s Statement on Former FBI Director James Comey’s Testimony Before the Senate Intelligence Committee
Washington, DC,
June 8, 2017
Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson issued the following statement in response to former FBI director James Comey's testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee: "With much of the nation watching, former FBI director James Comey's testimony this morning felt like opening day of what will be a long process of investigation into a potential connection between President Trump's campaign associates and Russia. Much of what we heard was not new news, but it was nonetheless disturbing to hear Mr. Comey describe the uncomfortable position in which President Trump repeatedly put him, in an inappropriate and likely unethical effort to shut down the FBI's probes and pressure the director into clearing his name. Indeed, the fact that the president was not at the time under investigation seems to be the White House's number one concern and the most important takeaway from today. |
