Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson issued the following statement on Haiti’s presidential and legislative elections:

“Under less than ideal circumstances, the citizens of Haiti on November 20 helped their nation take an important step toward governance. I applaud Haiti for achieving its goal to hold the election in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew and congratulate Jovenel Moïse, the apparent winner of the presidential contest. District 24 includes one of the nation’s largest Haitian communities and I look forward to working with Haiti as it continues moving forward.”
