Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson Hosts Town Hall Meeting Tonight to Address Escalating Violent Crime at a Miami-Dade County Housing Project

Miami, FL – Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (FL-24) will host a town hall meeting tonight at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Liberty Square Community Center to talk with residents about the Miami-Dade County and City of Miami Police Departments' efforts to combat rising violent crime in and around the Liberty Square Housing Project. Miami-Dade County Commissioner Audrey Edmonson, City of Miami Commissioner Keon Hardemon, Miami-Dade County Police Director J.D. Patterson, other community leaders and activists will join Congresswoman Wilson to address residents' concerns and find solutions. "Too many lives have been lost, and families destroyed by senseless violence. Our police departments must utilize all resources available to clean-up our streets and rid our communities of criminals who prey upon the innocent. As a community, we must come together to find real solutions and form lasting partnerships to make our communities safe places to live, work and raise a family," said Congresswoman Wilson. ### Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson is a second-term Congresswoman from Florida representing parts of Northern Miami-Dade and Southeast Broward counties. A former state legislator and school principal, she is the founder of the 5000 Role Models for Excellence Project, a mentoring program for young males at risk of dropping out of school. Congresswoman Wilson also founded the Florida Ports Caucus and serves as co-chair along with Congressman Bill Posey, Congresswoman Corrine Brown, and Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart. The Florida Ports Caucus is a bipartisan taskforce that coordinates federal action in support of Florida's harbors and waterways. |
