Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson Statement on Vandalism of Congressman Emanuel Cleaver's District Office in Missouri

Miami, FL– Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (FL-24) issued the following statement today as police investigate the discovery of two Molotov cocktails found Wednesday night near a shattered window at Missouri Congressman Emanuel Cleaver's district office in Kansas City.

The incident comes in the wake of protests and the federal investigation into the death of 18 year-old Michael Brown, a black teenager, who was shot and killed by a white, Ferguson, Missouri, police officer.

"As the Congresswoman who represents Trayvon Martin's family, we received death threats during Jorge Zimmerman's trial. This type of violence and intimidation cannot be tolerated.

We adamantly abhor any opposition toward Members of Congress expressed through violence. Congressman Cleaver has the right and responsibility to speak out in support of his constituents as they seek justice."
