Today, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.), in response to the House Republicans’ vote this week to ban abortions in the District of Columbia and their outcry over Obamacare ensuring access to contraception for all women, spoke on the House floor about the Republicans’ war on women’s health.

“It's my body, not yours. I alone bear the burden, pain and joy that it brings. Please stop trying to regulate my reproductive organs. They belong to me,” said Congresswoman Wilson.

Congresswoman Wilson, a lifelong advocate of women’s health, criticized Republicans for their continued war on women, taking them to task for their extreme views. She questioned whether they would support women and children, including prenatal care, Head Start, public education and foster care.

“For some reason, you care about a baby right up until the minute it is born into this world, and then you disappear and desert the children you claim to protect and love. Shame on you!” Congresswoman Wilson said. “Obama cares, and so should you!”
