Congresswoman Wilson Commemorates the 10th Anniversary of the September 11th Attacks

Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (FL-17) today released the following statement on the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks:

“Ten years ago, thousands of innocents civilians fell victim to the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history,” said Congresswoman Wilson. “Today, we honor the memory of those who lost their lives that fateful day. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who lost loved ones in such a shameless act of violence.”

“We especially remember the first responders – firefighters, police, emergency personnel, and chaplains – who made the ultimate sacrifice while trying to save others. We also pay tribute to our brave men and women in uniform, who have made immeasurable sacrifices serving our country overseas over multiple tours of duty.

“The 9/11 attacks remind us that the threat of terrorism is real and we must remain vigilant. Violence against innocent civilians is never acceptable under any circumstances.

“On this day and every day, let us remember the spirit that bound us in the days following the attacks and renew our commitment to our children, who will forever carry the lessons of 9/11.”

Rep. Frederica S. Wilson is a first-term congresswoman representing the 17th District of Florida, including Northern Miami-Dade and Southeast Broward Counties. She is a former state legislator and school principal and the founder of the 5000 Role Models for Excellence Project, a mentoring program for young males at risk of dropping out of school.
