Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson to Partner with Walgreens to Provide Free Health Screenings and HIV Testing on World AIDS Day
MIAMI – In observance of World AIDS Day, Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (FL-24) will partner with Walgreens and several health clinics throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties to offer free health screenings and HIV/AIDS testing on Thursday, December 1, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Giveaways for individuals who are tested will be provided by Walgreens.
Local officials are working to treat the latest Zika zone around Little River, but across Biscayne Bay, more mosquitoes have tested positive for the virus in an area already treated.
Now, some elected leaders are saying that there is another factor beyond bugs, travel and sexual transmission is contributing to the spread of the virus.

MIAMI (WSVN) - Florida officials are ready to take the next step in their battle against the Zika virus, and it could not come at a better time.
At a news conference, Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Fla., met with community leaders and local professors to address concerns and discuss measures to eradicate the virus in the newest hot zone in the City of Miami, which was announced last Thursday.
Three Miami lawmakers were so excited about Wednesday night's late U.S. House vote approving funding to fight the Zika virus that they convened reporters to assemble at Miami International Airport when their Washington flight landed Thursday morning.
An aide taped a big, mock check -- for $1.1 billion and made out to "Miami-Dade County and other Zika affected areas -- on a lectern.
"I hope you made note of the check that is attached to the podium," Miami Gardens Democratic Rep.Frederica Wilson said, "because this is a victory."
