Today, Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) issued the following statement on her vote against the House Republicans’ student loan bill.

“As an educator, I know how important it is to keep college affordable for our children, but the House Republicans are cynically forcing us to choose between higher education and healthcare. Instead of asking millionaires and billionaires to give a little back when many of them took advantage of these very same federal student loans, the Republicans want to gut critical funding for women’s and children’s health. This is a false choice that the Republicans have foisted upon the American people for years – it’s just yet another example of the Republicans robbing Peter to pay Paul.”
