“My thoughts and prayers continue to be with the Haitian people as they rebuild from the devastating earthquake on January 12, 2010. It’s been a tough and trying two years for the Haitian people and the Haitian Diaspora, but their strength and resilience inspires all of us to remain committed to the recovery effort.”
“As the Haitian people rebuild, we cannot walk away. Two years after that tragic day, we are seeing encouraging signs of progress. But we must continue to help our Haitian brothers and sisters with sustained and smart engagement.
“As the Congresswoman in Florida with the most Haitian Americans constituents, I am more determined than ever to continue advocating for the long-term stability and recovery of Haiti.”
Rep. Wilson is commemorating the second anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti by hosting a panel discussion on recovery efforts with Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.), U.S. Ambassador to Haiti Ken Merten, and members of the Obama administration on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 4:00 pm at the Miami Edison Middle School.
