Congresswoman Wilson's Statement on Pope Benedict's Visit to CubaMonday March 26, 2012
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) today issued the following statement on Pope Benedict's Visit to Cuba:
“I am wishing safe travels and return to those taking the pilgrimage in honor of the Pope Benedict XVI's visit to Cuba. I also send well wishes to the many South Florida parishioners who will take part in masses marking his visit throughout the week. As you celebrate the 400th anniversary of ‘Our Lady Charity,’ may you find peace and inspiration.”
Pope Benedict XVI will travel to Cuba from March 26 to March 28. This is the first papal visit to Cuba in 14 years.
Rep. Frederica S. Wilson is a first-term Congresswoman representing the 17th District of Florida, including Northern Miami-Dade and Southeast Broward Counties. A former state legislator and school principal, she is the founder of the 5000 Role Models for Excellence Project, a mentoring program for young males at risk of dropping out of school.
